James Klein
James KleinWriter + Consultant
For 16 years, I’ve helped my clients convey their ideas with passion and precision, creating media that captivates and informs their target audiences.

Experience + Approach

A lifelong passion for writing led me to a BA in English, an MFA in scriptwriting, and a career in communications. After working at the University of Southern California for six years as a Director of Marketing, Senior Editor, and Digital Content Producer, I went on to a number of nonprofit organizations, where I served as Vice President of Communications, Director of Marketing, and Director of Research. I started consulting in 1999, and moved to a full-time practice in 2007.

Writing is my foremost discipline, but I’ve also mastered visual design and communications technologies, including website design and programming, desktop publishing, and email marketing. Because I’m a one-stop shop, materials are produced at a lower cost, and messages remain consistent across a range of media.

Every client receives individual, focused attention. They feel as if they’re my only client because I strive to be flexible, accessible and responsive. I listen closely to their needs and objectives, providing materials and services that engage their target audiences while managing expenses to stay within their budget.

Clients deal with a single point-of-contact, which saves them time, money and effort. I also work effectively with my clients’ in-house staff or other consultants. My customers appreciate the energy, attention to detail, thoroughness, creativity, and overall excellence I bring to every project.
